| I hand make each length of rope from Bombyx silk noil threads, each length is made to order. My ropes are generally 3-ply with an S twist, but can be made with the opposite Z twist if you wish. Because each rope is laid out and finished individually, many custom requests are easily accommodated. I can make up to a 5-ply rope with either S or Z twist direction. Ropes are typically 6mm-8mm in diameter. I can do a looser or a tighter twist, depending on your needs. (Tops like the tighter ply, bottoms like the loose squishier ones, no surprise there) Tighter ones are smaller in diameter as well. I charge $1.50 per foot, 90 foot minimum, . A custom-made length is generally 6-10 inches longer to allow for finishing. I can finish the ends with 1 of 3 options: Thistle knot, whip stitch or constrictor knots. (see picture). Standard length is 30 feet. I also dye ropes (Silk takes a dye waaaay better then hemp, see the pictures) Red is the favorite by far, but I can do most any color as well as natural dyes (Indigo is my favorite.) I charge a bit more for dyeing, generally making the price $1.75 per foot. The silk noil has a matte finish and will grab a knot given half a chance. They are not rated for suspension as I have not yet managed to get any load bearing tests done. I'm working on this though. Washing Instructions Ropes can be either spot cleaned or washed in a machine. Place ropes in a lingerie bag and wash on gentle in cold water. If ropes are dyed, there may be some bleeding. Wash with like colors. Air dry ropes. Do not place them in the dryer as they will get all twisted up. Email for more information on ordering your own custom handmade silk ropes.
